It's football season, where the weekend is spent at home, eating apps that Sami and I make, and, of course, drinking beer.
This is a year round selection from St. Cloud's Beaver Island Brewing. I had sampled this before at a trip to Total Wine, but hadn't had a full can of it before. It seemed pretty good when I sampled it, but you never truly know until you get a can or a pint of it.
The Ripple uses German Kolsch, Munich Wheat, and Pale Wheat hops to brew this golden ale. The hops actually come from Spalt, Germany, which is St. Cloud's sister city.
The verdict: I would classify this beer as "just fine." It smelled good up front, and goes down well. The taste is fine. It's nothing special, but it's still drinkable. It tastes very much like a regular lager. If you enjoy simple beers like that, you can't go wrong with this one.
